Purchasing Agent

Williamson Pump & Motor specializes in custom manufacturing and distribution of a wide range of electric motors, pumps, drives, generators and other industrial products for sump pump and septic system installations. We provide quality sales and service for your building’s mechanical needs with a great selection of vendor products in our warehouse and 24/7 emergency line. Our fully equipped shop, large fleet of vehicles with overhead cranes and certified licensed technicians with over 70 years of experience to assist your installation, maintenance, or emergency needs.

Summary: The purchasing agent will perform a wide variety of duties related to the timely ordering of parts, supplies and materials for the service departments, oversee material resource planning and responsible maintaining proper inventory levels.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree – preferred
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to multitask
  • Ability to work independently and with various internal teams
  • 3-5 years purchasing as an industrial buyer
  • Must have the knowledge and skills to keep all lines of communication open between all the departments at Williamson
  • Prior experience negotiating contracts

Authority and Accountability:

  • The purchasing agent is delegated sufficient authority to accomplish the responsibilities, duties, goals, and objectives that have been established for the position
  • To solicit new and existing customers and vendors
  • To contact vendors as a representative of the company to decide for purchase quotations

Job Duties:

  • Respond to incoming calls in a courteous timely manner
  • Order parts for jobs and orders promptly, as advised by service and sales
  • Obtain the lowest possible price per item/unit at the best applicable quality
  • Use the fastest, most cost-effective delivery schedules to meet customer demands
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors for service and quantity purchasing as directed by supervisor
  • Resolve or assist in resolving all price and/or ordering discrepancies relative to purchased materials, incoming shipments, and outside invoices.
  • Write RMA’s f or incorrectly ordered /shipped parts for purchase orders
  • Confer with all department supervisors as necessary to ensure effective interdepartmental coordination and customer satisfaction

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
